Candidates for this position should have a strong passion for Microsoft cloud technologies, stay up to date on up-and-coming product releases, industry standards, and best practices, and then apply those current industry best practices to architecture designs.

Job duties would require the candidate to meet with key personnel across multiple business units to understand the current state, pain points, and the envisioned future state. Responsibilities would also include helping with the design, development, and implementation of new solutions and ongoing management of existing Microsoft on-premise and cloud data analytics products. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are a must.

Community Skills:

  • Establish yourself as a subject matter expert by participating in industry events, conferences, and forums. Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, such as speaking engagements, panel discussions, and writing thought-provoking articles or whitepapers.
  • Content Creation/Delivery – develop high-quality, informative, engaging content to showcase the value and capabilities of data analytics solutions within Microsoft Data Platform and Azure.
  • Technical Sales and Collateral Development – create persuasive sales collateral, such as product brochures, datasheets, presentations, and demos, to support the sales team in their efforts to generate leads, nurture prospects, and close deals related to data analytics

Technical Skills:

  • The candidate will have experience using DevOps for project management, utilizing GIT or Git Hub for version control, and CI/CD pipelines for code deployment across organization environments.
  • Understanding compute principles such as knowing when to scale out versus when to scale up and implementing the exemplary ETL/ELT architecture.
  • Understanding when to use ADF vs. Databricks and the implications of one over the other.
  • Understanding the services and security best practices around implementing streaming solutions from varying data sources such as but not limited to CSV, databases, IoT devices, API calls, etc.
  • Understanding data processing engines and architecture around Data Lake Analytics, HDInsights, and Apache (Spark, Storm, and Hadoop).
  • Understanding Fabric, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Lake Gen2, Blob storage (Hot and Cold options), Synapse, formerly Azure SQL DW, HBase, Cosmos DB, and Azure DocumentDB.
  • Understanding of data modeling concepts from inception into raw folder structures of a data lake to parquet snappy structures in the curated productionized folder structure. Dimensional modeling for data warehousing and translation to MPP architecture best practices and designs.
  • Experience documenting and reviewing data lineage.
  • Be in an on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science
  • · 5+ Years of applied experience developing Business Intelligence or Data Analytics solutions utilizing Microsoft Stack
  • · Experience with MPP Architecture Design
  • · 4+ Years developing Tabular and Multi-Dimensional Models across different industries.
  • · 5+ Years developing and working with visualization and reporting platforms such as PowerBI and SSRS
  • · ML/AI and RPA experience is a plus
  • · Excellent Communication Skills
  • · Understanding of Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
  • · Experience with general database design concepts
  • · Organizational and Multi-tasking skills
  • · High level of troubleshooting current productionized environment issues
  • · Data modeling
  • · ELT/ETL
  • · Strong knowledge in reading and writing three or four of the following: T-SQL, MDX, DMX, XMLA, DAX, C#, VB.NET, or Python
  • · Ability to identify roadblocks in development cycles
