Candidates for this position should have a strong passion for Microsoft cloud technologies, as well as stay up to date on up-and-coming products releases, industry standards and best practices, and then apply those current industry best practices to architecture designs.

Job duties would require the candidate to meet with key personnel across multiple business units to understand current state, pain points and the envisioned future state.  Responsibilities would also include helping design, develop, and implement new solutions, as well as ongoing management of existing Microsoft on premise and cloud data analytics products.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to our customers and sales team.
  • Stay abreast of new industry trends and be a subject matter expert within the Microsoft Data Platform.
  • Owning, tracking, and resolving database-related incidents, projects, and requests.
  • Proactive monitoring of database usage regarding health, performance, availability, utilization, and security.
  • Writing technical articles and giving technical presentations to peers, customers, and conference attendees.
  • Ability to complete multiple simultaneous projects in a timely fashion.
  • Be in an on-call rotation
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have high attention to detail, be well organized, and be a self-starter with strong execution and follow-through skills.
  • Must be able to work with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to break down complex topics into simple to digest information and data points.
  • 5+ years of experience with Performance Tuning, Database Design, Administration, and Development
  • Experience administrating SQL Server 2008-2022
  • Experience and knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions including Failover Cluster Instances, Availability Groups, Database Mirroring, Log Shipping, and backups and restores.
  • Experience and knowledge of performance tuning with and without utilizing 3rd party tools.
  • Recent Microsoft Database Administrator and Azure certifications or ability to get them within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Experience with building, designing, and maintaining data movement processes and data warehouses.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Excellent analytical, Interpersonal, and Communication skills, fast learner, hardworking and good team player.
  • Experience with Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory
  • Experience with Azure and/or Amazon AWS.
